Ok, I know I haven't posted anything on here for over a year...oops!

2010 was not a good year for me health-wise, I was admitted to hospital with various challenges five times:-( Not my idea of fun! In between those admissions my health was not good & I had to let everything go & focus on getting my health back to normal. Finally, I think I am there, or at least well on the way!

Anyway, here are two photo's of "Ro-Ro" one of my adorable cats. The one with the hot pink sunglasses on is typical of him! He's a character for sure!

In the other one he is hiding under a big piece of see through material - we call it his mozzie net! The flash caught his eyes & if I didn't know him so well I'd say he was looking very scary!

Anyway, I am back on track now & I hope to add more photo's soon. In between occupying various hospital beds I did manage (sometimes) to get out & do some photography. It was "good medicine" & I highly recommend it!

It's The Lady In Red!

Here I am (The Lady In Red!) sitting under a tree at the Parnell Rose Gardens..on my birthday!
As we wandered around the gardens I found this

sign & just had to take a photo of it! The rose below is the Lady In Red rose, although it is very pink!

What a fabulous place the gardens are, acres of beautiful roses in every colour shape & size! These are just but a few of the hundreds I took that day.

This one is of a tiny Sparrow having his bath in the fountain! He was so cute & didn't mind us being there watching him bathe!

This is a close up of one of the many roses we saw, all of them beautiful & alot of them were scented - not good for my allergies but I still had fun! Y from TLIR!

Parnell Rose Gardens

Even in 'death' there is beauty... the dead head of a beautiful rose...

This rose was 'on fire'! The colours were so vibrant & rich!

Close up of a gorgeous pink rose..it had the most beautiful soft scent!

There were many different flowers at the the Rose Gardens, & this Fuchsia was one of them.

This was just one of many gorgeous roses, every one of them was equally as stunning as the next!

The first photo is of a snail climbing up a glass dish. He was only tiny & it was a long journey!

The next photo is of Bella-Rosa out in the garden/jungle, waiting to pounce on a mouse...or something equally scary (from my point of view anyhow!) She did pounce but whatever it was must have been quicker than her because she came inside looking quite disappointed that she hadn't caught anything!

This is Bella having an 'itch'...what a face! I think she's saying, "Oh bliss oh joy I just love a good itch.." or something like that! Look at the big smile on her face!!

Here are some photo's of "Romeo-Valentino", or "Ro-Ro" for short! If there is water around, he's in it! In these photo's he had discovered a glass of water left on the bench. He was caught with his paw in the glass - he said he was 'fishin' for goldfish?! ' Yeah, I believe that, and the Easter Bunny lives at the bottom of my garden!! (And did I mention the Tooth Fairy, she hangs out down there too!)

"Don't get any idea's" she says', "it's only a kiss not a marriage proposal"!!

They really do love each other, they play hard together at night, chasing each other around the house, but at the end of the day they are best mates!

They both love the fire so it's often a case of 'first in first served'! Usually they both win & share the mat together! 'Aint love grand?!

My cats mean the world to me, I don't have human kids but my fur-kids mean just as much to me. Thank you for dropping in, hope your weekend went well, mine did!

"Ro-Ro" was asleep by the fire one night when I put these little red shoes on him! He has this "oh-so-cute" trill he does, he also purrs but he more often does this high pitch trill! Well, he was 'trilling' away while I tied his laces for him! Bit of a challenge because he kept kicking the shoes off before I could get the photo! The warmth of the fire was keeping him asleep! I had fun taking these photo's of "Ro-Ro" in the garden! He was chasing a piece of bamboo & 'dancing' on his hind legs! (Did I mention that he sleeps in his own BABYSLING?! And he loves it!! Means I can carry him around while I do the boring stuff = housework!!) I didn't really put too much thought into taking these photo's, I just kept shooting! Welcome Home!

Here is "Romeo-Valentino", a new addition to my family!! He is 12 weeks old & a real cutie! He & "Bella-Rosa", my other cat, get on really well & chase each other around the house for hours! I adopted him from the SPCA last week & kept them separate, but so they could touch paws & noses through a partially open door. They played tug-of-war with a piece of string for hours, so I thought I may as well introduce them properly. There was no fighting what-so-ever! "Bella" enjoys having a little playmate to keep her company!

He is full of energy & mischief but loves his cuddles & kisses! He sleeps on the bed at night, mostly on top of me! He also likes to sleep on the pillow beside me! In this photo he has a little yellow mouse in his paws, both my cats love these mice! He gets called "Ro-Ro" for short!

Here is Mickey with his paws over his ears! Pilates or Yoga maybe?! He was just a kitten but already full of character! He was lying on my moms knee at he time & stayed in this position for quite awhile! He must have been comfortable! Now, if I slept like that I would end up with sore arms! Oh Yah, That's Hilarious Mom!

OMG! Here he is again, my Handsome Printz, Mickey! I just love these two photo's of him yawning - what a HUGE mouth he had!! I have enlargements of these & believe me, they are scary in full size!! I can even see his tonsil - do cats have tonsils?!!

The other photo is of him peeking out of one of my suitcases! He got in there by himself!! I never knew where I was going to find him!

I've spent alot of time in Sydney Australia (my second home Y) and whenever I got my suitcases out, he made sure he got in them! And I wondered why my luggage was always overweight?! Now I know why!!

This cat taught me alot about life, love & the joy of being owned by a very entertaining cat!

Oh my gosh! This is "Mickey" on top of my garden swing! See what happens when you have too much Christmas pud?!! He used to love sleeping on this swing but eventually the canvas stuff ripped & there was this big hole in it. Well, he didn't care did he! I stitched it up so many times but it kept ripping. In this photo he has almost entirely slipped right through it, but manages to hang on by his claws, and yawn for the camera at the same time! Mickey, you were an absolute entertainer & kept me in stitches at the funny things you did - thank you! You are in my Y for eternity.

Nice Day For A White Wedding...

Well, here it is three days after the wedding & I am still in party mode!!

The gorgeous bubbly bride giggled & winked her way through her wedding vows, keeping us all in stitches! She was SO happy (and so was he!)!

I've never been to such a "happy" wedding!

I had a BLAST, & only left the dance floor to get another drink!! I came home (with the bride & groom - well I live next door to them!) with a huge smile on my face & in my Y. These two are awesome & I Y them both very much!

Water Droplets

These are water droplets on the stem of a plant. I don't know what the plant is called, but it is a succulent & has tiny creamy white flowers along the stems.

It had been raining when I took this photo. Each one of those droplets has a reflection in it! Amazing!

Pretty In Pink!

Oh Natalia-Lynn, you gorgeous baby!! Yeah, I'm biased...this is my cute little niece when she was about one & a half years old! She is alot older now! I won a photo contest with this shot! In fact, every contest I entered with photo's of Talia, I won!! There were about ten contests from memory.

She was & still is very photogenic & very relaxed in front of the camera! This shot was taken in my mums garden - look at those cute little cowboy gumboots she's wearing!!

My mum knitted her pink outfit; sadly she can't knit anymore as she has rheumatoid arthritis in her hands. You did well mum, you did well.

Somewhere out there, someone has an enlargement of this exact photo, hanging on their wall, because they STOLE it. I had it entered in a very well known photo contest & I never got it back. Weird Clouds

These are some very weird looking clouds that were overhead one evening! The first one was taken with a zoom lens to get a cloer view. The second one I used a normal lens. Ok, the real reason puss has a red nose??? Us Kiwi's used to celebrate a day called Red Nose Day. You gave a small donation & received a 'red nose' (which you wore & looked really stupid!!). It was in aid of preventing cot death. Obviously, my ever-so-patient cat, "Mickey", supported Red Nose Day...every year!! If he could have spoken my language I would be in big trouble!!

Oh What Gorgeous Brown Eyes You Have!

A head shot of one the many ducks on my lawn. For some reason they always let me get up close to them without too much bother! They will also, quite happily, come inside & steal the cats biscuits & 'puddle' around in her dish of water!! Hey, make yourself at home why not!!

I have been known to put my arm down a drain that goes into the ground, to rescue a baby duck, all while mother duck stands & watches me to make sure I am not 'stealing' her baby! I have no idea what is down that drain but I am scared witless of bugs & stuff like that so it's not something I relish doing!

Two ducks on my back lawn having a "quack" session! Every year there are loads of mother ducks with their babies wandering around the back yard. They like it because I have a fairly big back lawn - even the cats don't touch the ducks! They watch them but that's all they do.

This photo has scanned a bit dark, it is actually alot lighter IRL. The photo of Adam (below) is also a bit dark.

"Clio"

"Clio" used to live next door to me & used to visit every day, in fact, she mostly lived here, not at her own place! I used to take her for long walks sometimes. (Or was it the other way round?!) A beautiful dog in every way, full of life & had a huge amount of energy! She learnt quickly that my cat was not to be chased & they ended up getting along just fine. Of course, puss ruled!

Religious Vision?

This is the apparition that appeared in my bathroom window...what is it?? Has anyone else seen anything like this? I eliminated street lights - there are none, & it isn't lights from a nearby house as there is too much thick bush around. And it wasn't caused by lights inside the house or outside lights, as this was taken in the middle of the night & I had no lights on at all. And last but not least, it wasn't the moon because there was no moon at the time!

Purple Flower

I wish I knew the name of this flower, it's just gorgeous! These grew on long stems & there were many heads like this, on the plant. There was alot of colours in the background so to reduce the distraction I took the shot looking down at the flower. It still looks ok!

This was also at the Wintergardens. I took ALOT of photo's that day! I don't get there very often at all so I didn't want to miss anything! Better to take more photo's than not enough!

Oh So Delicate!

I have to say, these pale pink & white Fuchsias' look much better full screen!

I stood underneath this hanging basket to take this shot! When I was a kid we used to call these flowers "Ballerina's"!

My mum had them in all different colours. It wasn't an easy shot to take because above the basket as part of the roof, is a huge clear glass dome which lets in all the light, so the background was very "white". I did ok, huh!

Orange Flower

I have no idea of the name of this flower, but this is a close up of it. It has a long thick stem with this huge orange 'head' of all these tiny flowers! This is the flower Paul gave me..see post below!

I have to tell you, going to the Wintergardens is NOT the ideal place to go if you suffer from hay fever, which I do! I paid the price for the next week or so! This flower was growing in the Wintergarden, which means it likes cooler temperatures.

Do You Know These People?

I have no idea who this couple were! They had no idea I was taking their photo! I'm not even sure what it was they were taking a photo of...it was one of those "moments" where they became the photo!

This was in the Wintergardens at the Auckland Domain... I Y that place & I Y their gardens!!

Do you know, for the Wintergarden & the Hothouse, there are only TWO gardeners who do all the work?!! If you know the gardens you will understand my amazement as it is huge! They do a fabulous job for sure! Paul & Dave are their names, & thanks for the flower Paul, it lasted for over a week!! One of the flowers had been broken off by some careless tourist & I was talking to him about the gardens etc & he gave me the flower! You will see it in one of next posts!

I Y this photo of this baby Cicada! I found him floating in a dish of water I have outside for the birds. (The cats drink it!) I like how I captured his reflection, too. I never know what I am going to find in my garden, so it's always a surprise!

I found this tiny cicada floating in a dish of water outside. He had obviously drowned, poor little thing! But he looked so pretty I just had to take some shots of him. I was amazed at how the tiny droplets of water on his wings showed up so well in the photo's! Hi reflection adds depth to the photo.

Luckily I didn't have to, I just used my zoom lens to get close!

I love the leaves as well as the flowers. The Wintergardens are a very relaxing place to visit, I could have sat there all day!

This is one of the many Lillie's growing in one of the ponds at the Wintergardens in the Auckland Domain. I just Y them! There were also some tiny, & some not-so-tiny fish in the pond! They seemed very tame & followed me around as I walked round the outside of the pond.

All Curled Up!

I have several ferns growing in my garden & these are just a couple of photo's of the fronds.

They start of curled up so tight that I am amazed at the size of them when they are fully open!

Isn't nature wonderful!

Welcome to my brand new blog, "Lady In Red Photography"!

I am a passionate Y photographer, not a professional by any means but I do love taking photo's. Having been approached by many people asking me to set up a blog so they can see my photo's as I take them, I decided to give it a go! I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoy taking the photo's!
